Fall is always a fantastic time around the WCA as we emerge from the summer hiatus and start implementing the plans for another full and fun-filled year. This year is no exception! Despite COVID forcing the cancellation of some long-standing events and the implementation of new operational mandates, due to restriction changes, we are happy and excited to start relaunch many of our programs and hosting some events. In September, we moved forward with an outdoor Fall Fun Fair and, with some operational changes, the Community Clean-Up. Unfortunately, we have had to cancel Oktoberfest and the Safe Halloween – the first time in over 15-years! Other events are being evaluated as guidelines evolve and morph due to the, and I have come to dislike this term, ‘very fluid nature’ of COVID policies. With this in mind, we recommend regularly checking the WCA website or Facebook for the latest information.

At this point, I would like to give a shout-out to our office staff – Sue, Erin, Al, and Kevin – to whom much of the work and responsibility has fallen to stay abreast of the policy changes affecting our building operations and implement necessary changes. They have also worked tirelessly with the program coordinators to assist them with making adjustments such that the majority of programs will be returning to the Community Centre. It has by no means been a small undertaking and, despite the restriction easements, not one with a definite ending. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Executive, we thank you!
