Glenbrook’s President’s Message for November

Hello again Glenbrook!

This past month, we held our first virtual Annual General Meeting, which was quite different from what we are used to – just as we will be holding all of our monthly community meetings for the foreseeable future virtually. Becoming accustomed to this new normal has been challenging, but as always, we will find a way. The summer and fall that preceded it was also quite different, as we all dealt with COVID-19 health and safety restrictions. Despite this, it has been great to see so many community members getting out to use our sports facilities. As the weather shifts and we move towards indoor activities, I remind everyone to take the necessary precautions to keep you and your family safe and healthy.

Remembrance Day is fast approaching, falling on a Wednesday this year. Our commemoration of this occasion will be in for changes as well. It remains an important day to remember the veterans and fallen heroes who gave us the freedoms we enjoy today – even in the midst of a pandemic. Please take the time to find a ceremony that fits with your comfort level, or reflect from your home, and help us remember their sacrifice.

We are happy to say that our outdoor rink will once again be open this winter. Watch out for it as our volunteers work at getting the ice ready for everyone. And as always, please pay special attention in our playground and school zones. Now that the days are getting shorter, speed restrictions will continue well past when the sun sets, and children are not as easy to see – we want them all home safe for the holidays.

All the best,

Murray Ost, President, Glenbrook Community Association
