Hello Woodcreek Community,
It is hard to believe we are over eight months into the COVID-19 pandemic, and now we are anxiously awaiting the holiday season and what that will bring. It does seem that 2020 keeps sending “shots across our bow”, but I have been impressed with perseverance and diligence shown by the residents in our community. Keep up the good work neighbours!
This issue of the Woodcreek Chronicle celebrates a few successful events. We had our incredible Outdoor Halloween Celebration – it was a little chilly; however, everyone seemed to enjoy the event. Shoutout to Safeway for their continued support in our community – the candy and chocolate bars were a hit. We also had our Woodcreek Seniors Craft Sale in early November. Many thanks to Anne Bundgaard, the Senior Knitting group, and the many volunteers and vendors who made this event a success. I was very impressed with our patrons’ patience as they were required to wait to shop the talented craft items available. Lastly, we were able to hold our AGM in late November. Although there were a few tweaks to our Executive and Directors-at-Large, we continue to have a board dedicated to ensuring Woodcreek is a top community in Calgary.
In the middle of the month of December, if the fates allow, we will be having a Skate with Santa. Many thanks to Mara Fraser who organizes such amazing events for our younger Woodcreek residents. Please watch the website and community sign in regard to the date and if we will be able to hold this event.
I’m sad to say we won’t be having our annual New Year’s Eve Gala – it is always a fun evening, and you just never know what theme Nora Ward will run with. Hopefully December 31, 2021, will bring us together again in the hall for delicious food, tasty beverages, outstanding décor, and some fellowship on the dance floor.
With the start of the winter weather, please check in on your elderly neighbours, shovel a walkway, and be kind to those we see out and about. This could be a long winter and a wave goes a long to way to make someone’s day brighter.
The office will be closed over the Christmas holidays. The board wishes to thank Sue Larson and Erin Lackie – for their dedication to ensuring the office runs smoothly every day of the year, and to Al Evenson and Kevin de Villenfagne – who keep our buildings and grounds looking so great.
