At the heart of this community lies the Canyon Meadows Community Association (CMCA), a beacon of community engagement. Established in 1971, the CMCA offers a plethora of social, recreational, and community programs for residents of all ages. From Seniors Coffee Hour to annual events like Spring Community Cleanup Day, the CMCA fosters a strong sense of belonging.
The Canyon Meadows Community Centre is packed full of amazing amenities. Two halls, a commercial kitchen and boardroom are available for rental. The Community Centre is also home to two skating rinks which are transformed into Crazy Carts racetracks in the summer. Other awesome features include 4 basketball hoops, hockey and lacrosse nets, gaga ball pit, playground, outdoor firepit, picnic tables, giant slip and slide, and lots of natural landscaping for picnics and family gatherings.
Neighbourhood Demographics
Canyon Meadows is home to 7,435 residents as of 2021. The 2021 Census of Canada recorded a median total household income of $100,000 before tax in this community. The beautiful neighbourhood is also home to 290 residents with an indigenous identity, spread equally between the First Nations (47%) and Metis (52%) indigenous groups.
The housing landscape in in this neighbourhood is quite diverse. Of the 3,090 occupied private dwellings, 61% are single detached houses, 3% are semi-detached houses, 22% are row houses, 1% are an apartment in a duplex, and finally 13% are an apartment in a building that has less than five storeys.
Convenient transportation options, including the Canyon Meadows LRT Station, make commuting a breeze, with 10% of residents opting for public transit.
