Well, we’ve jumped back on this never-ending rollercoaster again. The optimism of the April message has been shadowed by the return to phase one (some have called it phase ⅔) restrictions. Honestly, I am filled with sadness, anger, disappointment, and other emotions I can’t put into words. I can only hope that by the time this article is published, we are all in a better place.
Our community centre has been effectively closed for a year, with only brief periods of marginal operations. We continue to be thankful to our community and renters who have stood by us during these challenging times. We hope that we can open our doors and welcome everyone back soon.
On a separate note, following on the success of our rink fundraiser, we have a new fundraising goal for the season: “Help our tennis courts!” Our tennis courts are much loved, and we expect them to see an abundance of love this season. It is coming time that we give them some love back. Refurbishing our courts is a large project, between court resurfacing, fencing, infrastructure, etc. With your help, we can be closer to our goal. Please go to www.haysboro.org to help in any way you can.
I also want to thank those volunteers who helped plan, organize, and implement our April Haysboro scavenger hunt. The letters of Haysboro were scattered around the community to help us get out and enjoy the wonderful place where we live. Who knows, maybe those letters will live beyond the scavenger hunt and we can continue to see them spelling out our community.
Lastly, we will be planning for our AGM soon. With our AGM comes the opportunity for engaged residents to get involved. If you are interested in helping move our community forward, we would love to meet you! Please contact Diane at the office [email protected] and she can put you in touch with us.
Until then, keep well.
