Dear Community,
With constantly shifting safety measures, Braeside CA staff and volunteers have been working hard to ensure we can remain open, while adhering to various passport programs and uphold our responsibility to address community safety.
Our team has certainly been working hard – but that notion of ‘team’ extends far beyond the frontline workers here at BCA. As a volunteer-led, community-based non-profit, our organization is truly made stronger by the people who offer their support (in all ways!) and help make this place vibrant, welcoming, and cared for. We are extremely grateful to everyone’s contributions.
Thank you to all volunteers who helped with our recent events, with a huge thanks to the folks who came together to support our mid-September casino fundraiser. The funds raised from our casino provide a much-needed revenue source for the community association, and truly, we couldn’t have done this without you.
Thank you to all the volunteers who keep our used book sale shelves in full stock; there are so many fabulous book donations that come through the centre, and so many avid readers who make regular visits to BCA to snatch up that next great read.
Thank you to all the folks who’ve been patient with us when you walk into the building, greet us with your ‘masked’ smile, and are friendly to us when we ask for passport checks or safety protocols. Being a community centre during these challenging times has its share of stressors, but the kindness shown by residents is deeply appreciated.
And thank you to all the residents who’ve been renewing their BCA memberships! Braeside’s memberships expire in August, and it’s been heartwarming to see folks come forward the past couple months to purchase or renew their membership.

There are many perks to membership, including: membership gives you access to programs and services, like childcare or seniors’ fitness; discounts for ice rink rentals ($25 dollars per hour, which is half price for members); Braeside residents gain voting rights for important BCA business, so stay tuned for our AGM, early 2022; and more!
