Glenbrook’s President’s Message for November

Hello again Glenbrook,

As we move into November, we look back at last month’s Annual General Meeting. We were able to host it in-person this year for the first time since 2019 – while doing our best to work around the current COVID-19 restrictions. I would like to take a moment to recognize our Glenbrook award winners. This year, our Glenbrook Community Partnership awards went to Canuck Amusements and Soccer Without Boundaries. There were also three winners of the Glenbrook Lifetime Membership award: Ken Weaving, Bob Nelson, and Agnes Wolstenholme. Everyone was very deserving, and I thank you all for your commitment to Glenbrook as we benefit from your work.

It has been great to see so many community members get out to use our sports facilities. As the seasons change and we move towards more indoor activities once again, I ask everyone to take the necessary precautions to keep you and your family healthy.

Remembrance Day is fast approaching. This year, November 11 falls on a Thursday, and once again, how we remember our veterans will come with some changes. Regardless, it is such an important day as we think of the fallen heroes who have given us the freedoms we enjoy today – even in the midst of a pandemic. Please take the time to find a memorial service or ceremony that fits your comfort level and help us all remember their sacrifice.

Watch for the return of our outdoor rink as our volunteers work away at getting the ice ready for everyone. Please pay special attention in our playground and school zones – now that our days are shorter, children may not be as easy to see, and we want them all home safe for the holidays.

All the best,

Murray Ost, President
