2021 Annual General Meeting

The 2021 AGM was held on October 21, 2021. Thank you to all members who attended the meeting or who provided us with your proxy form. Members provided great input and we appreciated the opportunity to discuss important issues.

Facility Status

The facility remains open at this time but with limitations and restrictions (due to COVID-19) that may change throughout the fall and winter. We will continue to follow the mandatory rules of the government. As we transition to our winter operations there are many safety issues to consider. One of significant importance is the skate change room. There is still uncertainty of whether we can have the skate change room open this winter. We couldn’t open it last year, so we created outdoor areas for people to put on their skates and it worked well. We will prepare for both scenarios and update our members late November.

While there is still much uncertainty with respect to the impacts of COVID-19, the safety and well-being of our members and employees remain top priority. We will continue to evaluate this complex and fluid situation and update our members accordingly. Please visit our website at www.mlra.ca for all information regarding the park status and COVID-19 implications.

Concrete Pad Project

Construction started in early October and will continue through November. This will impact access to the park and building so please obey signage and stay away from construction areas.

We anticipate that phase 1 will be completed by December, and skating will be open shortly after. Skating this year will be very different and we are very excited about it. There will be a new ice trail through the trees of the BBQ area that will be accessible from the top rink. There is also a brand-new deck with a fire pit and sunken lawn that will be used for tot skating in the winter. We will still have all of the lake skating open once the ice is thick enough for equipment. We hope all of our members get out this winter and enjoy it!
