Exciting Community Events Coming Soon!

YYC Food Trucks Coming to Riverbend!

YYC Food Trucks will be coming to Riverbend every second Wednesday on June 1, 15, and 29. Watch our social media platforms for details about which trucks will be coming when. Every time YYC Food Trucks come to Riverbend they donate a portion of their profits to RCA in support of our fundraising efforts to purchase a new snow sweeper for the new outdoor rink. Come out to enjoy a great meal and support your community at the same time!

Charity Paddle Event

We are very excited to announce that RCA has partnered with a local business, Sup & Flow, that offers paddle board rentals and classes at the Carburn Park pond during the summer months. From now on, Sup & Flow will offer a 10% discount to RCA Members upon presentation of their membership card. To kick off the season, Sup & Flow is organizing a Charity Puddle event on Saturday, June 4. You will be able to try out paddle boarding at Carburn Park between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm by donation. Sup & Flow will donate the proceeds to RCA in support of our fundraising efforts to purchase a new snow sweeper for the new outdoor rink.

Spring Parade of Garage Sales

Start your spring cleaning and decluttering right away as the Spring Parade of Garage Sales is coming on Saturday, June 11! Thank you to Remax realtors Bart Lamb and Tarryn Hamilton for hosting the event for our community. Please register online at www.riverbendcommunity.ca/events so your location will be added to the map. The electronic map will be available on our website and hardcopies will be available for pick up at the community centre on the day of the event.

End of School Summer Dance

This is a new event for children 12 years and under to celebrate the end of the school year and beginning of the summer. The dance is scheduled for Friday, June 17 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Community Centre. Awesome music, pizza, and prizes! Parents are required to attend with children. Free for RCA members or $5 per child for non-members with pre-registration. Get your tickets online now as they will sell out quickly! www.riverbendcommunity.ca/events.

Traffic Safety and Crime Prevention

We would like to better understand traffic and safety concerns in our community so we can develop appropriate action plans to address these items. Please take five minutes to answer a few questions via an online survey.

Riverbend All-Season Rink Makeover Project

The project is full steam ahead! Last month, we got the rink lights replaced with new LED lights. Thank you to the Enmax Energizing Spaces grant for supporting this part of the project!

In early May, a fantastic group of keen volunteers disassembled the old rink structures. Thank you to Recon Metal and ECCO Recycling for donating the bins and accepting the debris for free!

The area is now ready for tearing out of the old, warped asphalt and ground stabilization work. Stay tuned for ongoing project updates via our social media platforms!

Riverbend is Turning 40 this Year!

Riverbend Community Association celebrated its 35th birthday on May 4, and the community of Riverbend is turning 40 this year. See www.riverbendcommunity.ca/riverbend-community/history-of-riverbend and www.riverbendcommunity.ca/about-us/history-of-rca for more photos and more details. If you have any info, photos, and/or other materials that you would like to share, please reach out to us at [email protected]. We will add them to the website as well and may be able to incorporate them in the planned history installation at the community centre that we are working on.

2022 Riverbend Slo-pitch League

Riverbend Slo-pitch league is a non-contact league (no sliding into bases and home plate is a mat). Each team supplies and umpires their own games. It is a fun league (we do not track wins or losses for teams). Each team is provided with six or seven game balls, bases are supplied and are kept at the diamond. There is a wind-up tournament, which starts the Tuesday after Labor Day weekend and continues through the following weekend. There is a wind-up party after the league ends, usually at the end of September. Must be 18 years of age to join. There is one game per week from July to mid-September (weekdays in July and August). Games take place at Holy Angel’s School diamond. Please register online at www.riverbendcommunity.ca/programs/adult-sports-leagues-programs.
