Mini-Galleries: Celebrate the Edge of Winter in March and April at Rotary Park

by Alexandra Writers Centre Society

Usher in spring while looking back on the delights of winter in a printed word and visual arts exhibit at Rotary Park’s mini galleries this month. The Edge of Winter, curated by the Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society (AWCS), brings visual poetry, blackout poetry, and short prose with a visual style to the galleries.

“This exhibit examines the transition between not-quite-winter and not-yet-spring,” says AWCS executive director Robyn Van Eck. “Think solstice, equinox, or stories of growth. Expect odes to the joys of snow or a heated farewell to the cold. Read prose about turning over a new leaf or the excitement of something in bloom. Let this seasonal cusp inspire you!”

The first author readings and a gallery tour will be Saturday March 18, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. A second set of new works will be installed in early April.

“Our March-April exhibit is a little different,” says CHCA’s Brenda Erskine. “The text takes centre stage, as we engage art spectators as readers. We hope you’ll take your time and visit often.”

More details on the authors and their works will be announced on our Instagram.
