As we mark the halfway point of 2023, the KRA would like to inform you of some important upcoming dates. Starting on June 14, please remember to remove vehicles from the streets to avoid a ticket and also to allow the City to clean up our neighbourhood for the summer season.

On June 17, remember to be kind to your neighbours, as it is the tenth anniversary of Neighbour Day, which was established by the City of Calgary.

As June comes to a close, the KRA AGM is taking place at 7:00 pm on June 27 at the Symons Valley United Church. More information is available on the Simco portal events calendar. We hope to see you there, as we will be answering questions regarding our budget expenditures: this is also a perfect opportunity to become a volunteer on our board!

On another note, final notices have been issued for unpaid HOA fees. Summer maintenance is happening around our community. Annuals and perennials will be planted this month, mulch is being added to park beds, and the gazebo is being freshened up.

If you’d like to freshen up your own property and have noticed your water service valves are sticking out of your driveway or yard, the City of Calgary has some helpful information regarding this issue.

The KRA would like to wish you a happy and healthy summer season.

Your Outside Water Service Valve

from the City of Calgary

Service valves control the water running to a home or building from The City of Calgary water main. They are usually located outside the residence, either in the front, back, or side of the property (for example: lawn, driveway, or private sidewalk) and occasionally they are located just outside the fence line in the back alley. If you are experiencing any of the following issues, please complete an online service request below or call 311 if:

• A service valve needs to be raised or lowered**

• A cap/top box is missing

• There is a damaged valve

• There is a leaking valve

• There are any questions about water services to your home

**As the ground shifts due to freezes and thaws, the service valve may need to be raised or lowered – sometimes more than once a year due to seasonal changes. The City of Calgary provides this service at no cost.
