The Glenbrook Community Association is pleased to offer a number of free daytime clubs and groups throughout each week. If you are interested in trying out one or more of these drop-in clubs, please email [email protected] to let us know which one(s) you are looking to join. If you would like to come on a regular basis, a Glenbrook community membership is requested, but not mandatory.

Tai Chi

Stability, balance, and flexibility are very important as you age. This program can help you improve these factors and decrease health risks. Join your neighbours for gentle exercise and breathing. Bring dry shoes and a name tag. Classes will be reduced from our usual weekly schedule during the summer.

Upcoming Dates: August 1, 8, 29; September 5 (all Tuesdays) at 10:00 am.

Pickleball

It seems like everyone is talking about pickleball, which means that many people are wanting to try the sport for themselves. Join us on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 9:00 am at the Glenbrook sport court. Equipment, instruction, and encouragement are provided. Monday and Wednesday are regular game days, and Fridays are for beginners. Contact Grace at [email protected] if you are planning your first visit, so you can be advised if the courts are unsafe to play on due to weather conditions.

Book Club

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 20. We will be discussing The Perfumist of Paris, the third installment in a trilogy by Alka Joshi. Enjoy reading the first two books if you haven’t already and join us for a Zoom talk with the author herself!

School Volunteers

Glenbrook School is looking for volunteers to enable field trips and other activities. Some of our seniors have already participated in such excursions, including accompanying a class to the Calgary Zoo this spring, and learning with Grade 4 and 5 classes during a guided field trip in Weaselhead Park. It was a great joy for them to relive the enthusiasm of youth!

Contact Margaret at [email protected] if you want more information.

Fun and Games, Knitting and Crafts, and our Coffee Social will return in the fall.
