School is back in session! Please slow down, drive safely, and watch out for each other! Lots of work continues to be done to modify the traffic around the schools. You can help by having your children, if they are old enough and you feel comfortable, go to school on their own. This will help alleviate some of the traffic congestion around the schools. Do not park where the buses go. Also, arrive early to avoid congestion and do not stop in the middle of the road to let your kids out. September is the month where the police will make the most rounds. Fish Creek Blvd has been incredibly busy so take extreme caution to avoid any road accidents.

Parking

If you have a big truck and/or trailer, please be aware how close you park to corners and road bends. This can cause serious visibility problems for traffic. To report a traffic violation if you think someone is parked too close or is causing a safety concern or facing the wrong way, please contact 311; they can put you in touch with Calgary Parking Authority.

Community Safety

Watch out for each other!

Pets

There have been increased reports of people looking for lost pets. Please make sure your cats are microchipped so that they can be returned. Do not let your dogs run free in the City parks. There are no nearby off-leash parks near Evergreen. Also, pick up after your dog so the feces do not contaminate our parks. Use the appropriate bins and do not leave your bags on the ground.

Unlocked Doors

Keep your doors locked! Don’t be paranoid but be vigilant. The CPS promotes the 9:00 pm lock down quite a bit. At 9:00 pm, lock everything down before you go to bed. It’s a good habit to get into.

Reporting

Once again, if you witness any traffic issues on an ongoing basis, please take the time to both report it to me at [email protected] and the police via the traffic service. This can be done at http://www.calgary.ca/cps/Pages/Traffic/Traffic-Service-Requests.aspx.

Please report road and sign issues to 311. This can be done by calling 311, online at http://www.calgary.ca/CS/CSC/Pages/311.aspx, or on the app website at http://spot311.calgary.ca.

If you have any traffic questions or concerns or wish to comment on anything I have written here, you can email me at [email protected].

Thanks,

Paul Bushell, Traffic Director and Utsav Agrawal, Safety Director
