It’s been a great start to a fun winter season so far!

First of all, I’d like to thank all of our volunteers that make the outdoor rinks so successful. It’s a lot of work and the people in this community are always ready to lend a hand and help when they can. Your help shovelling after snowfalls and bringing hot water when we flood the rinks is greatly appreciated. The outdoor rinks couldn’t happen without you!

I hope everyone had an awesome holiday and was able to spend time with friends and family. Hopefully the weather continues to cooperate, and we can have excellent ice this season. I finally bought some skates myself and am going to be out there learning!

It’s great to see the older kids in the community looking out for the younger ones and taking time to teach the younger kids about skating and hockey. My son Jack wouldn’t be so excited about hockey if it wasn’t for the older players including him in games and teaching him how to shoot and stick handle.

The rinks have been seeing a lot of use and everyone has been doing a great job following the signs when we need to stay off the ice. We started off the year with a bit of warm weather and used that time to fill the rinks with more water. A big shout out to Big Rock Water Hauling for helping us with more water on short notice! Looks like winter weather is here to stay now which will be great for the rink.

See you on the ice!
