by Garth Paul Ukrainetz, Poet of the Blackmud Creek
Yes, Mother Nature loves to fish
She’s casting through the cityscape
From shallow creek she sets her line
With hope to tug upon our hearts
Metropolis of hustle bustle
Calgary loves the breaking news
If lure appeals to concrete jungle
Perhaps she’ll get a nibble soon
Sweet chickadees in aspen trees
Chatting with the babbling brook
Big balsam poplars share the trails
So fresh of air you’ll soon be hooked
Caught upon reposeful beauty
Released of worry, stress, and fear
She’s fishing for Calgarians
Catching and releasing here
