Our district covers the communities of: Edgemont, Evanston, Hamptons, Hidden Valley, Hanson Ranch, Kincora, Nolan Hill, Sherwood and Sage Hill. We have units for all age groups – Sparks (ages 5-6), Brownies (ages 7-8), Guides (ages 9-12), Pathfinders (ages 12-15) and Rangers (ages 15-17). You can register online through www.girlguides.ca.
Here’s some of the highlights of what we were up to in November and December:
The 91st Pathfinders had a busy November and December with our Alice in Wonderland themed enrolment and a visit to Ronald McDonald House, bringing with us our donations for this wonderful charity. The girls also planned a sleepover to be held in January and a Carnival to raise funds for our CWFF (Canadian World Friendship Fund) which will happen in February. For our Christmas party, the 91st Pathfinders and the 60th Ranger unit went to Lloyds’ Roller Rink to celebrate the holidays and to enjoy the locale before it is gone.
The 165th and 145th Sparks have been really busy so far this year. We enrolled all our new girls and sold lots of mint cookies! We had a blast at our Halloween Spooktacular Camp at Camp Jubilee with the Brownies where we made crafts and played games! We visited the spaceport at the airport where we learned all about how it would be to live on the International Space Station and we also learned all about the stars and constellations in their mobile inflatable planetarium. We are looking forward to our visit from Santa and our Mother Daughter sleepover “Drive-in Movie” theme.
A big thank you to everyone who bought cookies from Girl Guides this fall. The Chocolatey Mint cookie campaign was a great success. We will see you again in March/April with the Classic Girl Guide cookies (vanilla/chocolate).
