2019 will go down as one of the most eventful years in your Community Association’s history. We transitioned our building from a 1970s era cinderblock structure, which was having trouble attracting users, into a brand-new community hall that is getting busier and busier as we move forward. With tenants offering programs involving residents of all ages, it is great seeing children, young adults, and seniors enjoying our facility.
It is satisfying to drive by the building and see our halls being used most evenings, and walking into the building to see Craig and Dawn helping out our many daytime users shows that our goal of becoming the preferred “gathering place” for our residents is well on its way to success. With your continued support of our users and attendance at events that we will be hosting, we will continue to grow. If there is any programming or service that you would like us to offer, if you have a community based idea or project you need space for, or an event that you want to hold, please drop in and check out the great vibe that our building has to offer! For those of you west of Fairmont Drive that have not yet made the short trip east to see the new building, please come on over!
We, of course, still need lots of volunteer help in a whole range of matters. Although our membership continues to grow, we still need help to work on reaching out to many of our residents who have not yet stepped into our new building. With a building that is twice our former size, we have to expand our volunteer “facilities operations and maintenance” portfolio to help us prioritize and execute on a whole range of small to medium size projects. I expect our soccer, pickleball, and tennis programs to build with our new facility as a home base, so there is ample opportunity to get involved and help if sports are your thing.
On the social front, we had more than a year off and have started to become more active. We hope to put on a few new social events next year, and our success will depend on your involvement in planning and support.
As the year comes to an end, I would like to thank our directors and many volunteers who stepped up to help at our community events, casino, board meetings and of course our building committee. We are a strong community when we work together as one, and I look forward to helping WRCA out in one way or another next year!
