Note: Our deadline to provide content to this newsletter was April 1st, therefore some of this content may be out of date and not as current as we would like. Due to COVID-19, things are changing often, so please visit our website – www.mlra.ca – for up to date information.

Park Closure

While there is still much uncertainty with respect to the impacts of COVID-19, the safety and wellbeing of our members and employees remain top priority. As a result of this unprecedented pandemic, and in line with direction provided by health authorities and government officials, the park, lake and other MLRA amenities closed on March 16 and will remain closed until further notice. We will continue to evaluate this complex and fluid situation and update our members accordingly. Please visit our website – www.mlra.ca – for confirmation on park hours and further updates.

Although the park and amenities may be closed to our members, we will still provide the essential services to ensure the lake, park and buildings are maintained.

Annual Membership Fees

Invoices for your Annual Membership Fees were mailed out in March. Payments were due April 1 but due to COVID-19 the Board has extended the due date. Please visit www.mlra.ca for details.

Important: Membership fees are mandatory, not optional. Membership fee charges are secured by an encumbrance, which is registered on the title to your property. If you are not sure whether you must pay the fee, please review the most updated version of your certificate of title and determine if there is an encumbrance registered by McKenzie Lake Residents Association. If there is an encumbrance on title, then it is mandatory for you to pay the fee. You can also contact our office for confirmation.

Methods of Payment Include:

– Online payment via credit card

– Telepay via Credit card

– Debit and Cash – During Office hours (the Office may be closed at this time. Please confirm on our website)

– Cheque – Mailed or inserted in the building mailbox.

– Sorry, we do not accept credit cards in person or e-transfers.

Office Closure

During these times of uncertainty, the office was closed for members to pay fees in person, but we are still processing payments that arrive in our mail slot or via the mail. We are also answering phone calls when we can and getting back to our members who leave voice messages and emails.

Once you have access to the system, the following functions are available:

MLRA Boundaries

We understand there are homes in McKenzie Lake that receive this news publication but are not entitled to MLRA membership. These areas include – Mt Allan, Mt Douglas, Mt Apex, Mt Aberdeen, and some homes on Mt McKenzie Drive. We do apologize but these areas are not entitled to MLRA membership. The Association boundary lines are determined by the registered Articles of Association, which is a document that specifies the regulations for a company’s operation. The MLRA Board cannot arbitrarily alter the boundary line.

Programs and Events

Due to COVID-19, we have unfortunately cancelled all spring programs and spring events. At this time, we can’t confirm if we will be offering summer programs or events. Everything is uncertain at this point, so we have suspended all planning to date. Please visit our website for updates – www.mlra.ca.

Beach Club Rentals

Due to COVID-19, the Government of Alberta and the City of Calgary have imposed restrictions on gatherings, and as a result we have had to cancel many functions to date and suspend all future rentals. Please visit our website for up to date information regarding rentals – www.mlra.ca, or email [email protected].

Volunteer Committee

Do you want to see more events offered throughout the year? We need your Help!

We are currently recruiting members to form a volunteer committee who will be responsible to help with special events. Our goal is to offer more fun activities and special events throughout the year, and we need volunteers to make it happen! The Committee will be responsible for all fundraising and organizing of the events. If you would like to see more events and activities offered and are willing to donate your time, then please contact us today at [email protected].

Grants from the Alberta Government

On behalf of the members of the McKenzie Lake Residents Association, the Board of Directors extends a big thank you to the Alberta Government for their generous donations through the Alberta Lottery Fund to help fund renovations completed to the interior and exterior of the buildings over the last couple years. Most recently, we received a grant to help offset the cost of a replacement maintenance commercial mower with winter attachments. Thank you, Alberta!
