Irrigation in Parks

Irrigation for the parks is turned on by the City at the request of the Association. Because June is the rainiest month of the year and July is the beginning of the summer heat, it is requested to be turned on in July. Last year City Council voted in favor of irrigation only for parks over one-half acre so it is possible that there will now be areas that will not look as good as they have in the past.

Fact: The Douglasdale Maintenance Association pays for water used for irrigation and repairs

Spraying of Weeds

The Association cannot hire a third party to spray weeds. If spraying is needed, it must be requested from the City who may approve and perform the work, then invoice the Association. Earlier in the season the City advised that there would only be spraying of noxious weeds due to a reduced work force because of the pandemic but that recently changed, and they will now be spraying for dandelions as well. Watch for the signs so you can keep your children and pets safe.

Signs

Signs for window washing, dog walking, etc. are regularly placed in grassy areas that are mowed weekly. It is requested this not be done as the maintenance crew has to remove them.

Lights

If you have left or entered Douglasdale through the main entrance when it is dark, you will have noticed a big improvement to the lights. They were brought up to code and all have been replaced with LED lights.

Main Entrance Improvement

Watch for enhancements to the main entrance. The landscaped area will be expanded, and many bushes and grasses will be added.

Thanks to Caring Residents
