Street Cleaning is Back!

The street cleaning program removes sanding materials and debris that has accumulated on roads during the winter months. Our street sweepers start on April 20 and complete the program in July.

Community Parking Bans

A parking ban is in effect when Street Sweeping community signs with “No Parking” symbols are placed around a community during Spring Clean-Up. Any vehicle that has not been removed from the street in the area is subject to ticketing. Vehicles are also subject to be towed if the small 3-feet high “No Parking” signs are placed along the road. They will be placed at least a minimum of 24 hours prior to street sweeping. If vehicles are towed:

  • The City of Calgary pays for towing if the vehicle can be taken to a nearby space.
  • The vehicle owner pays the ticket, tow, and impound fee, if taken to a lot.

Street Sweeping (April 20 to July)

  • During the program, daytime crews will sweep in neighborhoods Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Major roads are swept overnight to reduce traffic impact.
  • There will be no sweeping on Statutory Holidays: May 18 and July 1
  • Watch for signs in your community indicating when your street is scheduled for clean-up.
  • Parking bans are in place when signs are present. Remove vehicles and bins from the road on the posted dates and times.

Adjustments to the Clean-Up Schedule

Bad weather or sweeper breakdowns will cause interruptions to the community schedule. Any missed communities or unfinished sections will be rescheduled to the end of the program in July.

Crews will only accept re-sweep/sweeping requests after the Street Sweeping Program has been completed in July 2020. Once the program is finished, you can make a street cleaning inquiry by filling out an online service request at https://calgary-csrprodcwi.motorolasolutions.com/Public/ServiceRequest.mvc/SRIntakeStep2/RDSTREET.
