Hi Ward 14!

I think most Calgarians are itching to spend some time outside when June rolls around. Everyone is looking to have some fun.

Fun Summer Activities

I will be writing about just some of the fun summer activities that this city has to offer. There is bound to be something for you, your kids, your parents, and even your grandparents. I will talk about golf, Canada Day celebrations, after school programs, recreation programs, summer day camps, and seniors’ programs in more detail at calgary.ca/ward14newsletter.

Ward 14 Wordsmith Award

As I write this, my staff and I are reading through hundreds of essays in search of a winner. That talented grade six student and their entire class will be joining me at Council for a day. Visit calgary.ca/ward14newsletter for an update on the winner.

Olympic Update

This is an important, and controversial topic. Council has struck a committee to oversee management of our investigation of the Olympics, and I am on it. Look for an update at calgary.ca/ward14newsletter.

Counciltalk

This will be the first ever Counciltalk in McKenzie Lake. It will also be the last Counciltalk before we take a bit of a break for the summer. Join me at the McKenzie Lake Community Association (16198 McKenzie Lake Way SE) on Saturday, June 23. Make sure to note the late start though. We will be there from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. I hope you can take advantage of this opportunity, but it won’t be the last. Look for the next scheduled Counciltalk at calgary.ca/counciltalk.

Don’t forget to visit calgary.ca/ward14newsletter for the full version of this column, and feel free to contact me any time. The best way to do so is by visiting calgary.ca/contactward14.
