It is hard to believe the holiday Season is upon us! I’d like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and all the best this holiday season. I hope your days are filled with family, friends and all the love, cheer, gratitude and togetherness that marks the season.
As I reflect, I am grateful for the support and encouragement I have enjoyed from so many of you over the past 7 ½ years; and for how this has empowered me to speak up and out on your behalf. I am grateful for good friends and family, for the health we enjoy and the strength to overcome challenges in our lives. I am a proud Calgarian, Albertan and Canadian and believe many of us share those heartfelt sentiments of the privileges we enjoy in this great country. I am pleased to witness the success Calgary is seeing in Tech and Film. And I am encouraged that Calgary is experiencing the fastest growth in digital talent in North America while we are home to the highest concentration of high-tech workers in any Canadian city. A knowledge-based economy with supportive industries will continue to serve both Calgary and Alberta well into the future. 2022 has given us much to be grateful for – COVID (while still with us) has become more manageable; diversification continues in many sectors from renewable energy to aviation, manufacturing to technology; and companies like De Havilland choosing Calgary as their new home signals a hopeful return to normalcy in our everyday lives. History provides many examples of difficult, challenging times where huge disruptions – such as war, famine, plagues, and rationing of food and resources have caused hardship, but it has also given us hope in humanity in the simple acts of kindness and generosity. Through our challenges we forge a more refined focus on what is most important. As we celebrate this holiday season – remember to spend it doing what you love and enjoy. Take in the lights at Spruce Meadows, treat yourself at one of the wonderful holiday markets or open your doors and invite the neighbours for a celebration of community. And please continue to support our most vulnerable, while opening your hearts and minds to new possibilities for Alberta’s endless potential.
Please know that I will continue to faithfully serve you through to the next election; so please keep the comments and feedback coming as I strive to truly reflect the broader voice of Calgary-Fish Creek in my advocacy on your behalf.
I welcome you to join me at my Christmas/Holiday Open House at the office on Saturday December 17th from 9-11:30am for some community cheer – see you then!
