The Bowness Community Association was established in 1963. In 2007, the Bowness Community Association was revitalized with a new team of dedicated residents, developing a new vision for the Bowness Community Association. A volunteer Board of Directors, passionate staff, and countless members and volunteers contribute to making Bowness one of Calgary’s best communities to live in.

The Bowness Community Association offers a unique program designed to promote community connection, activation, and local artists. This program is called ARTS (Artistic Resident Talent Share) and includes free workshops and events and provides the opportunity for artists to display their work at the community hub.

Bowness Community Demographics

The population of Bowness stands at 10,770 as of 2021. The median total household income stands at a modest $72,000. The community is quite youthful with 15% being 0 to 14 years of age and 70% of the population being 15 to 64 years of age.

Inclusivity is displayed in this community as 855 residents have an indigenous identity. Of these residents, 58% belong to the First Nations Indigenous Group and 36% belong to the Metis indigenous group.

The community of Bowness offers a diverse range of living options with 42% of private dwellings being single-detached houses, 14% being semi-detached houses, and 26% being apartments under five storeys tall, according to the 2021 Census of Canada. 58% of the households in Bowness are owner households and 48% are renter households, displaying a healthy blend of housing options.
