Founded in 1961, the Acadia Community Association (ACA) is dedicated to creating a vibrant and healthy community for all Acadians. Its mission is to make residents feel included and safe in their neighbourhood. ACA provides programming and host events which all aim to enhance the lives of Acadians.
At the heart of ACA’s initiatives lies the Acadia Recreation Complex (ARC), a premier facility offering a diverse range of amenities. From a curling rink and hockey arena to courts, versatile hall spaces, trade show venues, and a social lounge, Acadia boasts a comprehensive space for diverse recreational activities.
Population and Affluence
As of the 2021 Census by the City of Calgary, Acadia’s population in private households is 9,915, with 69% falling in the 16 to 64 years age group. The community boasts a median total household income of $72,500, showcasing its affluence and offering a variety of beautiful homes, apartments, and condos.
In 2021, 56% of private households in Acadia are owner households, and 44% are renter households, providing diverse housing options.
Inclusivity is at the core of Acadia, with 23% of the population being immigrants and 2% non-permanent residents. Additionally, 455 Acadians identify as Indigenous in private households, primarily consisting of First Nations and Metis Indigenous people.
