Chaparral: Experience the Mediterranean in Calgary
Established in 1995, Chaparral draws inspiration from the Mediterranean climate biome. Its defining features include a 32-acre manmade lake, an expansive 21-acre park boasting two waterfalls, and a comprehensive recreation center. Chaparral has both a Residents Association (LCRA) and Community Association (CCA), both dedicated to improving the lives of residents. Lake Chaparral residents receive exclusive access to the Lake Chaparral Park facility with mandatory fees. The CCA is a volunteer organization which represents the concerns of residents regarding development in the area. The CCA often runs events to fundraise and entertain residents.
Chaparral Community Demographics
As per the 2021 Census, Chaparral houses around 12,500 residents in private households, with a majority (69%) falling in the 15 to 64 years age bracket. Chaparral enjoys a robust median total household income of $134,000 before tax.
In 2021, 91% of private households in Chaparral are owner households, and 9% are renter households. This shows a high ownership rate.
