38th Simons Creek Scouts are having a wonderful time so far this year we just went on our first camp to the Great Escape, September 28-30. This camp is hosted by Scouts Canada. What a wonderful weekend we had with other Scout and Vent groups from all over Alberta. It was a bit cold—woke up Saturday morning to snow with crazy winds, but our youth held in there better than some of our adults. On Saturday, the youth participated in group activities/games hosted by the Vents. Our troop said the best game was the zombie sling shot and life-size whack-a-mole. Our Vents hosted the Amazing Race with 6 different stations. All the youth had to work as a team—great for team building. Big thanks to the vents and your advisors for staying out in the cold windy field hosting the game. Our leaders were SUPER lucky staying out with our youth Saturday night for a big game running from 8pm-3am. What a log-tired night; you guys ROCK! Our youth found 4 out of 5 check points that were to be found in a farmer’s field. Hills, rough patches, some fences to be climbed…but they all hung in there and did an amazing job.
If your child is age 5-18 and is looking for some fun adventures, check out our website (38thsimoncreekscouts.com) on how to register, or come check us out Thursday nights from 7-8:30 at Valley Creek School. More pictures of our weekend will be posted and upcoming events.
Yours in Scouting,
