Hi Banff Trail Community!
My name is Karen Montemurro, and I will be chairing the BTCA Playground Committee in 2023.
In 2022, we raised ~$5,000 in funding, wrote over a dozen grant applications, engaged with four different vendors for design options, and established a relationship with the Parks Foundation Calgary.
This year, our goals are:
1) To raise at least $5,000 more through fundraising
2) Receive funding from the BTCA
3) Approach local businesses for donations and support
4) Apply for additional grants and improve our success rate of being awarded grants through our relationship with the Parks Foundation
5) Complete a formal vendor selection process and finalize a playground design through the Parks Foundation
Our target construction date is the spring/summer of 2024.
Currently, we have five members on the committee and are looking for a few more dedicated volunteers to help with fundraising, grant writing, and playground design. We are going to be establishing monthly meetings on the second or third Mondays of each month at the BTCA hall. Our next meeting will be on May 15.
