by Philip E. Carr, President – MPCA
It has been an active summer for MPCA and your Board members! Hot July days led to capacity crowds at the swimming pool on many days. The addition of a new slide proved popular. The Board met to continue work on our new strategic business plan. This session was facilitated by our dedicated City of Calgary representatives, Catherine Gulinao and James Runge. They supplied pizza from 4th Spot, so we were well fortified for the task!
In August, we once again celebrated A Day in the Park, thanks to the efforts of volunteers led by Shirley-Ann Zacher and Darla Henderson. Shirley-Ann served as Vice-President during my last term on the Board, and I am pleased that she is still contributing to our community. The Board also met to review and approve our audited financial statements, and we discussed placing some of our funds in secure investments to earn some interest for MPCA.
As I approach the end of my first year in my second time around as President, I continue to be grateful for our community and all of the willing volunteers. I cannot offer you much except my dedication, and the promise that I am a President you will not find on Twitter! I invite you to join us at our AGM at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16th at the Hall. You will meet your neighbours, hear year-end reports, elect directors, and have a chance to socialize. If you are interested in joining the Board, please contact me to express your interest. My contact information is in this issue of The Pulse. There is always room for another set of willing hands and for new ideas to contribute to the vitality of Mount Pleasant.
