The North Haven Learning Grounds project continues with final review and CBE approval expected shortly after the time of writing, in early April.
To allow time to raise funds, the project has been split into two phases, with the installation of Phase 1 planned for this summer, and installation of Phase 2 expected in the summer of 2023.
Phase 1 is focused on the area to the northwest of the school building and will cost an estimated $135,600. Construction will begin this year (summer 2022) and includes:
- Outdoor classroom with boulders
- Accessible pathways
- Boardwalk
- Naturalized meadow
- Planting
Phase 2, with planned installation in the summer of 2023, is focused on the area to the northeast of the school by the swings and the playground with an estimated additional cost of $195,000.
Over $110,000 has been raised through grants and fundraising efforts thus far, significant progress towards the expected $330,000 budget. We are currently seeking additional project sponsors and accepting donations on our website – all donations over $20 are eligible for a tax receipt thanks to our partnership with Parks Foundation Calgary.
