August is here and the gardens are in full bloom. A big shoutout to Jason Tauber and the Garden Committee for organizing a beautiful Garden Tour. Many of our residents showcased their beautiful gardens as part of our annual Parkdale Garden Tour. Thank you to everyone who organized the event, our featured homes, and to those who took the time to stroll through the neighbourhood.
Stampede was in full swing this year after a two-year pandemic pause. Our annual Stampede Breakfast was a co-hosted event with our partners – Morpheus Theatre Company and Parkdale Nifty Fifties. Big events like these take massive organization and volunteer support. A bigshout out to Tammy German and the Events Committee for putting on a great event for the community.
On July 22 and 23, the PCA had its casino fundraiser at Cowboys Casino. This major fundraiser provided $65,000 towards PCA programming. A big shoutout to Jean-Michel Pare for organizing the volunteers for this two-day event. Thank you to all the volunteers who assisted with the various roles at the casino.
The Parkdale Community Rink & Hub was nominated for the City of Calgary Accessibility Award. While we didn’t win this year, we were pleased to have been one of four finalists. Congratulations to Accessibility Housing for their ‘Inclusio Project.’
