  2. Neighbour Day
  3. June 4 – Save the Date
  4. Compost and Clean Up

Howdy Rosemontians! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

They say that April showers bring May flowers. We had such a bizarre April, filled with 20-degree patio days, followed by snow and highs around –10 degrees. Not sure what kinds of flowers we should expect…. I feel for all the gardeners out there and I will absolutely blame my terrible garden on the April weather…. *shifty eyes*

Here is an update on the Shinny roundup this year, courtesy of Jean Blackstock:

On March 15, shinny players and families gathered at the Northeast Sportsplex for the 2022 Rosemont Shinny Windup. Players and their families took to the ice for a great game of hockey, followed by pizza and drinks.

Congrats to all the players this year: Junah S, Sevin S, Dustin L, Declan L, Kingston T, Colin L, Jack G, Wyatt G, Henry G, Ari S, Nathanial L, Samuel L, Dexter A, Callen N, Black N, Emery P, Owen P, Simon O, Blake B, Frederick R, Brayden W, Parker W, Rowan W, Neil W, Blaine N, Byron H, Nikhil S, Zander R, Cooper W.

Thanks again to Grant and Danielle parts for their excellent coaching and the Rosemont Ice Guys for their work in keeping the ice in such great condition, despite some challenging weather. See you next year!

Neighbour Day started in June 2014 to celebrate the incredible support provided during the 2013 floods. It is back again this year after a little hiatus. There are lots of great ideas and suggestions available on the City’s website so check it out and plan a little get-together to reconnect with your neighbours and meet some new ones.

We are planning an evening event for families and residents of all ages on June 4. We are planning some outdoor events (whether permitting) and a kickoff to summer with an evening BBQ. Save the date and check the website for more information. More details to come.

Free compost is being offered again this year from the City. Visit Calgary.ca/Compost to learn more and reserve a time.

We won’t be doing a community clean up this year, but fear not! You can always drop off your excess waste and recycling at any other community clean up. Search ‘Community Clean Up’ at Calgary.ca to learn more and find out when nearby communities are hosting theirs.

We have some awesome events upcoming and always need more volunteers to help us. If you would like to help out in any small way, shoot us an email at [email protected]. Any and all help is always appreciated!

As things start to open back up, we are always on the lookout for the best ways we can keep folks like yourself engaged and keeping Rosemont the best small community in Calgary. Want to start a dog walking group? See something in another community you think people might be interested in? If you have ideas for events, would like to be a bit more involved or want to meet some new people, shoot us an email at [email protected]. We are always looking for new board members (it is a very small time commitment each month) and we’re a pretty chill bunch.

As always, keep looking after neighbours, your loved ones and yourself.
