I hope everyone had a good summer and that you are surviving the start of school, whatever it looks like for your kids, and the gradual re-integration of work… no stress in our lives! With the continuing COVID crisis and all the uncertainty of second waves, we have decided to cancel our in-person Halloween party, and instead have a virtual trivia night instead. Lots of prizes and fun questions for everyone! You don’t need kids to participate, and we are going to have a wide range of questions. This will take place on October 30 at 7:00 pm. Visit our website for more information and to RSVP! And if you are not receiving our emails, please register online and you can get up-to-date information sent to your inbox.

I’d like to welcome Cheryl Gallant as our new communications coordinator. Cheryl is a Rosemont Resident with close ties to the school. We are so happy to have Cheryl onboard. Thank you very much for helping out.

I’d like to acknowledge and thank our wonderful Treasurer, Mel Gallant (they’re not related!), who culminated two years of serious accounting to finally get the Rosemont Community GST rebate. Anyone who has ever had to deal with the CRA knows it can be a maddening and time-consuming process. Capping off some initial work done by two of Rosemont’s previous treasurers, Sue Godfrey and Andrew Platten, Mel was able to do some excellent work to drag this project over the finish line. Thanks again, Mel, for such great work!

Despite all the social distancing protocols, the province has mandated that all Community AGM’s must be done in person. So, I would also like to invite all the residents of Rosemont to the Annual General Meeting that will be held Thursday, November 19 starting at 7:00 pm.

We have seen a number of new faces move into the community this year. I would encourage all original Rosemont residents to invite some of their new neighbors to come out to the AGM and meet the rest of the neighborhood. Additionally, we are offering free community memberships to Rosemont residents again this year (you need one in order to vote at the AGM). Please visit the website to get a free membership this year.

Calling all long-time Rosemont residents! We would like to interview you for some words of wisdom to share with our community. I know you have wisdom, and our younger generation needs to hear from you. Do you have a great routine that has led you to a long and happy life? Do you know how to beat loneliness? How about some tricks and tips for getting things done on your to-do list? Interests that keep you going, early morning walks, pets, family, or maybe not? What makes you tick? Contact us for an interview and we’ll come around – properly socially distanced of course – and get to know you better. Write-ups will then be shared in our monthly newsletter. Contact us at [email protected].

Rosemont Community Association is still looking for a new Secretary to record minutes of our meetings and be a part of our executive team. The position involves taking minutes at our monthly meetings, as well as the Annual General meeting. This takes roughly four hours a month, and you get to hang out with some really interesting (see: fun!) people. If you could spare your community a few hours a month, please contact us at [email protected].
