Howdy Rosemontians!

The quick rundown:

  1. Christmas Market – December 11
  2. Shinny is Back in January!
  3. Winterfest – January 22

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

We are hosting our first annual Christmas Market at the hall on December 11 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. We are having a dozen vendors showcase their gifts, crafts, and homemade goods for sale. We will be having snacks and hot beverages available so come by, find some great holiday gifts, and support local artisans. As Rosemont Hall is participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program, proof of vaccination, medical exemption document, or negative COVID test is required to attend. Masking is also mandatory. More details are available at RosemontCommunity.com/Market.

The Ice Guys are in full swing, getting the rinks ready for another amazing winter of skating and hockey. The warm October and November was great for spending time outside, but it has definitely limited ice making thus far. With the colder weather here, the guys will be ramping it up and will get the ice in tip top shape for the holidays. If you want to freeze your buns off and have a great time, shoot me an email at [email protected], and I’ll put you in contact with Captain Kurt.

And with the ice being made, we are happy to say that after having to cancel last year, Shinny will be back! The program is scheduled to start January 5 to the end of March or until there is no more ice, running 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Tuesday nights. Ages 6 to 12 and all skill levels are welcome. We’ll have our great coach Grant to help improve your skill level and have fun. The cost will be $30 per player with community membership. Everyone is welcome (please contact us if financial reasons may be preventing you from participating). Call Jean Blackstock at 403-305-9447 to register or email at [email protected]. If you live in Rosemont, membership is free – go to RosemontCommunity.com/Membership to sign up, and if you need a Rosemont membership but live outside the community, please email [email protected] and we can help arrange payment $20.

We are also going to be hosting an outdoor Winterfest party on January 22. There will be skating, music, hot chocolate and more. Save the date and more details to come in the January issue.

Lastly, it is getting into the holiday season, and it is a time for joyful events, celebrations, and reflecting on the past year. To call this a rollercoaster of a year would be an understatement. Many people have gone through many difficult times, and we have all made many sacrifices. During this holiday season, continue to stay safe and responsible with gatherings and events so that we can continue to move forward.

Consider donating or volunteering with one of the amazing organizations supporting those who need a little extra help. Small acts of giving keep Rosemont and Calgary the best place to live.

Don’t drink and drive and keep looking out for one another. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all of us at the Rosemont Community Association!
