The quick rundown:

  1. WinterFest – maybe happened?
  2. Stay up to date with email, Facebook, NextDoor
  3. Looking for board members and web designer

Howdy Rosemontians! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. This is the month of St Valentine, Family Day, and Chinese New Year. I know all of us will be celebrating these events differently than in past years, but it’s good to keep celebrating and enjoying them. Granted, every day for the past two years has been Family Day for me, so I may spend that day by myself 🙂

We have had to adjust our shinny program to be completely outdoors this year and I’m hoping that we will be able to offer it the whole season, but only time will tell.

I am hoping that we were able to run our WinterFest event on January 22. I am writing this at the beginning of January so I’m not sure if we have had to cancel it. It’s time for a ‘choose your own adventure’! If we ran the event, proceed to section A. If not, proceed to B.

  1. Everyone had a great time at WinterFest and it was great to see so many people out tobogganing and skating. The warm food, drinks, and fire kept everyone going so a huge thank you to everyone for coming out!
  2. Unfortunately, COVID surges and/or restrictions prevented us from running our WinterFest event this year. We will try to make up for it next year, and/or might try to do a smaller, more impromptu event later this winter. Keep an eye on the website and your inbox for more details.

Our karate group tenant (LDK Foundation) has had to postpone their kids program again this January. Take a look at their website (LDKFoundation.com) for info on when it is starting up again and to register.

We want to reach as many people as possible and are always exploring different ways to keeping connected. If you aren’t signed up for our emails (we send about one per month), you can register at RosemontCommunity.com. Additionally, we have a Facebook page (just search for us) where we post new information. And we know many community members have found value in the NextDoor app. We are not affiliated with it at all, but we encourage you to see if it may be of value in keeping a pulse on what is happening around Rosemont and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Finally, if you love meeting new people and want to help keep Rosemont as the best small community in Calgary, we’d love for you to join our Board or help volunteer! We are always looking for new board members and it is a small time commitment each month. If you want to learn more, email us at [email protected].

If you have a budding web developer, web designer, or communications specialist at home who is looking to volunteer in their community while building their portfolio, let us know as we would love their help with redesigning our website.
