Happy New Year Rosemont! I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday and was able to safely visit with family and friends.
On December 11 we hosted a fantastic Christmas Market that saw so many attendees, I was absolutely floored. We also got great feedback from our vendors so needless to say, this was a huge success, and we will definitely be doing it again next year. A huge thanks to Maura for putting it all together with Mel and Jacquie’s help, and to Diane, Craig, and Carly for helping out.
We will be hosting the Rosemont WinterFest on January 22 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. Bring your toboggans and skates and bundle up because this is going to be an outdoor event. We will have music, refreshments, and complimentary food for all community members. So, dress warm and come on down for a good old fashioned winter get-together! As you have probably seen, the ice rinks are in full swing which is great to see. A huge thank you again to Kurt and the Ice Guys for their hard work in December in getting the rink ready in practically a matter of days. We saw skate marks after day four of starting to flood. And Shinny is back! The program is scheduled to start January 11 to mid March or until there is no more ice, running 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Tuesday nights. Ages 6 to 12 and all skill levels are welcome. December saw a few police incidents in and around the community, which resulted in some police vehicles and canine units being spotted a couple times. On December 10 there was a theft at the liquor store in the plaza and the thief ran through the community. The other situation involved a domestic type of call near the corner of 14th and Rosehill. This incident resulted in a school lockdown out of precaution (as is standard practice) and the incident was resolved in a safe manner with no danger to the public.
If you see anything odd or something seems off, be sure to submit it to the non-emergency police line at 403-266-1234. Having more data shows trends and helps CPS identify patterns that can help with identifying criminals. Additionally, feel free to email us any information at [email protected] and we can pass it along to our Community Resource Officer.

It is hard to know what the rest of 2022 will look like, but I hope we continue to keep looking out for each other. These are still difficult times for many people, including neighbours and loved ones so keep an eye out on your mental health and those around you.
