How fortunate we are to live in this community with so much green space, big trees, and playgrounds (now open!). Thank you for moving your cars so that our streets could be swept clean; now we can all get our skateboards and scooters out. Your community association has been busier than ever looking to continue moving forward in a post-COVID world. We have been challenged to reframe and rethink how we do things. We would usually be preparing for our AGM around this time, set to take place in September, but given our ARC closure and COVID restrictions, that will likely have to be postponed. Do plan to renew your ACA memberships, however, as many of those annual memberships may be up for renewal this summer.

Last month, we celebrated Neighbour Day a little differently and distributed TLC (The Litter Clean-Up) kits to some neighbourhood helpers, thanks to TD and The City of Calgary. Thank you to those of you who requested a kit and helped to beautify our community by picking up litter on your walks – every little bit helps. We were disappointed to be without the help of the Scouts and Beavers this year, who would have been out with kits of their own picking up litter in parks and public spaces on what would have been our spring clean-up day in May.

June also saw the Acadia Community Association’s final BINGO fundraising event, after many, many years. Thank you to each of you who has volunteered at these events over the years, and thank you to Frankie and Lil who have spent countless hours organizing them. Watch for a farewell to BINGO from Lil Rose in an upcoming issue.

We are happy to welcome two new board members to the ACA – great to have you aboard, Ashley and Malcolm. Look for an introduction to Malcolm and his family in this issue’s “Meet My Neighbour”.

Lastly, we will miss celebrating Stampede with our annual indoor BBQ this year, but we invite you to participate in our colouring contest if you have not already – winners will be selected July 12!

We encourage you to continue reaching out to share your thoughts and ideas with your community association. Thanks for keeping in touch.
