April 8, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Our sincere condolences to the family of Art Hironaka.

Art passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 8. Art is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Pat, his three children, Cynthia, Brent, and Neil, and their spouses. He also will be missed by his three grandchildren, a large extended family, as well as a large circle of friends.

Art lived a full and active life. He was awarded the Fellow of Chartered Accountants by the Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants. He was also an Honourary Life Member of the Calgary Stampede, Honourary Life Director of Stars Air Ambulance, and a founding Director of the Stars Foundation. Art was a Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions International Foundation and the recipient of a Lions International Presidents award.

Art and his family lived in Acadia for many years. They were charter members of the McDougall United Church and the Acadia Recreation Complex. He contributed his financial expertise during the planning of the ARC and continued volunteering throughout the years. He and his entire family enjoyed the activities at the complex. Art was a wonderful gentleman who was always willing, but unassuming. He will be greatly missed by many families and friends.
