Hello fellow Acadians. We’re looking forward to the latter half of 2023 as more community events and initiatives are in store!

ACA Rebrand – Logo Design Contest

Phase 2 of the ACA’s rebranding campaign is well underway with the launch of our logo design contest last month. Based on the survey results we received, Acadians want to see a logo and brand that gives a feeling of Acadia being a very welcoming community that is safe, vibrant, and inclusive. Acadians would like to see a logo that incorporates trees along with the signature bungalows that you see in this community. It was also important that the logo features the concept of an inclusive and representative family. In terms of colours, Acadians like the blue tones used in our existing logo, but would like to see the addition of green somewhere and preferably a brighter yellow tone than what our existing logo has.

Do you want to try your hand at designing a new logo for the ACA? Visit www.acadia.community/rebrand for full details and information on how to submit your entry. The contest will be open until July 15.

Acadia Community Parade of Garage Sales

It’s back! The Acadia Community Parade of Garage Sales is on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25. This year, the event is sponsored by Don Wong of 2% Realty! Register your sale at www.acadia.community/pogs by Tuesday, June 20 to be included in the printed and online maps as well as to receive your signs. An ACA membership is required to register.

Volunteers Needed! Stampede Breakfast on Sunday, July 9

We’re so excited to bring back an ACA-hosted celebration for Stampede this year. Our Stampede Breakfast will be on Sunday, July 9 and we are currently seeking event planning committee members to pull it all together. If you are interested, please email [email protected].

Thank You for Another Successful Community Cleanup Event

For the fourteenth year, we held the Community Cleanup at the ARC in May. Special thanks to our amazing volunteers who were integral to making this event a great success! Thanks also to our sponsors and partners – The City of Calgary, Little Caesars Acadia, and Calgary Co-op MacLeod Trail. It really takes a community to run this event, and as always, Acadians showed up in a big way! Thank you!

Another Fun Social Night!

Did you make it out to our May Social Night? We were excited to introduce the new addition to the ARC Social Lounge – a foosball table for everyone to enjoy! Our next one will be in September. In the meantime, watch our social media for fun opportunities and events to hang out in the Lounge over the summer holiday season.

Introducing Uke Night

Uke Night is on Thursday, June 8 in the ARC Social Lounge. Uke Night is a group music lesson that teaches people with no musical experience how to play about a dozen popular songs on the ukulele in one two-hour event. We will provide everything you need, including a ukulele to use during the event, and an e-book download after the event so you can continue to practice what you learned.

The cost to attend this music lesson is $40 per person and registrations can be made at www.acadia.community/community-programs. Uke Night is currently an adults (16+) program and a kids’ version is in development.

Sincere Thanks to Malcolm and Sharla

Our deepest gratitude to Malcolm Jubinville and Sharla Stoffman for their huge contributions to the ACA board over the past year. Malcolm was integral to bringing our systems into the new century and setting up our digital presence, and Sharla was key in modernizing our policies and procedures. Malcolm and Sharla will be greatly missed as they embark on new adventures and are leaving big shoes to fill on the board. Thank you for everything, Malcolm and Sharla!
