When you go by Deer Run Community Centre and see the new roof being done, do you wonder how the building came to be?
Back in the day residents of Deer Run got together and put in $300 per household towards the building of a new community center. There was even a swimming pool in the original design. The legacy of what these ‘charter members’ did carries on today.
Now, the centre connects people by hosting sporting events, seasonal events for all ages, fundraisers to help families, Fun Money Casino, Stampede Breakfast, senior activities, yoga, martial arts programs, and more.
The current ‘We are Connected’ project on the fence near the centre, reminds us that we all have different ways of looking at art. These different expressions help make us stronger by bringing more views to the community.
As we learn to cope with COVID, Deer Run will come to life. You should take the time to drop into the community center and find out what it has to offer you and your family. Did you know we have a work-out facility and that we run our own daycare and out-of-school program?
The community center should be up and running again in September. Information can be found on the Deer Run Community Association Facebook page (ranked #5 in Calgary) and at www.deerruncalgary.com.

Yes – what happens at the Deer Run Community Association impacts you in the community. Working on issues with different levels of government and the Calgary Police Service is eye-opening. We are lucky to have their support. We are always looking for people to help the Deer Run board; please volunteer as your time allows.
