What a busy place!
The rinks have been great over the big temperature changes in February and early March. We didn’t get many opportunities to run the Zamboni, but it held up well. As we come up to the end of the season, we will be looking for volunteers to help out. If you are interested, please reach out to me at [email protected].
Speaking of volunteers, I want to thank all those who helped out this year with both the big and the little things. They all add up, and it was great to see some new faces jump in when needed. For example, the other day I met a young man named Riker who eagerly helped us clean off the rink. I know many more pitch in when needed. Huge shoutout to my man Riker and all rink users for stepping up!
Please note that we are looking for someone to take over rink duties for next year. I will still stay on in a lesser capacity to help out and guide the new person in charge. You do not need to be on the community association board to do this. I cannot guarantee that if we don’t have someone else step up that we will be able to have the rinks next year. Below are the usual rink duties, and I am available anytime to discuss!
• Arrange set up and take down of the boards.
• Coordinate floods with water trucks.
• Coordinate other volunteers for rink floods (I can assist with the Zamboni).
• Regular inspections of the rinks (checking for holes and cracks) then arranging to repair or talk to volunteers to repair.
I would still be available to take care of City requirements and permits (Adopt-A-Rink program), payment for water, and other items required, etc. You would have support.
