Hello McKenzie Towne!
The MTCA Silent Auction held at the end of April was a great success. We raised nearly $800! That amount will fund about half of the cost of a small community event. We can’t wait to start planning for future events to be held when things start getting back to normal. A huge shout out to the local businesses who donated to our silent auction: Riendo Marketing Inc., COBS Bread 130th, Shoppers Drug Mart McKenzie Towne, Your Dollar Store With More on High Street, Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria, Auto Value, Yarn Twisters, and Tim Lacroix & Mike Burton Home Team. Thank you all for supporting your community!
For this summer, MTCA has some fun, socially distanced events planned, which will include social media contests to encourage McKenzie Towners to get outside and enjoy our great neighbourhood. If you aren’t currently getting our email newsletter or do not yet follow us on Facebook and Instagram, you should! Check out https://linktr.ee/MTCA for links.
Last month, we had our AGM. I am excited to be back as the President of the MTCA. This month’s upcoming meeting, we will be voting in the board members to their positions. It’s great to have a couple new faces on the board. Have a look at our information page next month to see who is in each position. Interested in being a part of it? Email us and we will send you a link to join the meeting. At the past AGM, our acting president Stacey Williams presented a great report on our activities of the past year. The information can be viewed in this newsletter.
There will be some construction starting soon on 52nd Street to improve transit routes. A lot of this construction will be happening at the 130th Avenue and the 126th Avenue intersections. Visit calgary.ca/52streettransit for more information.
Thanks for reading this month’s community message, and as always, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected], or to me directly at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Sarah Ferguson
