It feels like we are entering into the last quarter of 2020 with some trepidation- not surprising since there is uncertainty around how the rest of this year will play out and what next year will look like. October is usually such a happy month, with Thanksgiving, Halloween on the horizon, soon to be followed by Christmas. This year, I suspect we’ll be feeling some sadness as these events will have to be done differently; still I hope we can find ways to enjoy them all and that everyone has lots of reasons to be thankful.

Our highlight last month was the completion of two playgrounds in our community – the small playground on Sun Harbor Way and the big playground on Sun Lake Road. They both look wonderful; please take time to check them out.

We are also thrilled at the success of our Community Garden. Just getting the garden started was a challenge this year; the garden committee, led by Wayne Hewitt, worked hard to get the protocols in place so the garden could move forward, the berm looked beautiful all season, and there are nine new fruit trees planted. Thanks very much to all gardeners for your cooperation and support this year.

Our Community Center is starting to feel busy again. Our fall programs are starting this month with all safety protocols in place and our Senior’s Group is meeting on Thursday afternoons. We also have our AGM on November 4 at 8:00 pm. Our current plan is to have this as a mainly online event, with a few people being onsite at the community center. Information on how to register will be posted on our website and in our Mid-Sun Facebook groups. Please note that our bylaws require that all attendees at the AGM have a current Mid-Sun Community Association membership – these can be purchased online.

Speaking of the AGM, please give some thought to joining the Mid-Sun Community Association Board. We are in need for a Vice President and are also looking for a Business Liaison Director to investigate opportunities to promote business in our community. If you are at all interested in these positions, or in sitting on the board in another capacity please contact me, I would be delighted to discuss this with you.

I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving and an enjoyable and spooky Halloween!
