Hi Neighbors,

Thank you to those that made the Halloween Party/Parade such a great success. What a difference the new hall is making for events like this. Don’t forget to consider booking your next function at the CKE Community Centre, there are lots of options for spaces available.

We are trying to bring back “Good in the Hood.” This was a past feature that profiled VIP CKE community members and included their stories to be shared in our newsletter and eblasts. If you are interested in participating, please reach out to Liz at [email protected].

I wanted to give a special thanks to Keltie Baxter who has decided to leave the Board this fall. Keltie is expecting her second child and wants to focus on time with her family. She has been instrumental in helping design and launch the CKE’s new website. Keltie, we wish you and your family the best with the new addition.

On that note, we do have an open position on the Board, and we do expect some additional spots opening in the spring, as others will be moving on as terms come to an end. Now is a fantastic time to consider volunteering to help shape the future of the community and the new facility; trust me, the heavy lifting is winding down. If you are interested, please reach out.

As you may have seen, the rink crew is ramping up their efforts to get us skating again. They are also still looking for some new recruits. This is such a great way to get to know people in our community and it doesn’t require any experience and is only a couple hours a week on your specific night. If you would like to volunteer or find out more information, you can reach out to John Causgrove at [email protected].

Stay tuned over the coming weeks and months for upcoming social activities. We are still looking to add a few items to the hall over that time and will be looking to have open gym nights among other events that will help bring us together over the colder winter months. Hope to see you soon.
