Hello Evergreen residents,

We wish you all had joyous holidays with families and friends.

The year 2023 was unique for CECA and Evergreen Community. CECA managed to have an almost complete board of directors thanks to our community volunteers stepping up to join us. We now have sixteen directors taking different roles on the board. Better off, we all work together when it comes to running programs and events. We managed to run successful activities including the Easter Egg Hunt, Community Cleanup, Zumba Classes for the public, Family Skating Event, Multicultural Event, Christmas Lights Contest, and Seniors’ programs including Zumba, Hobnob meetings, and computer classes.

Our community ice rink should be up and running at the time you read this article. The ice rink is a huge success each year where families from Evergreen and the surrounding areas (yes) come and enjoy family time together. We have managed to put up solar lights that we hope that we can add more to make the rink “brighter” and ask you to take care of them as they belong to our community. We have a team of volunteers of two people managing the ice rink which is a huge undertaking. We need your support to help us maintain the ice rink. Please email [email protected] to include you in the list of volunteers.

I frequently get calls from residents asking if Calgary Evergreen Community Association (CECA) and Evergreen Residents Association (ERA) are separate entities and the answer is yes. CECA is a community association that provides programs and events for the community. We run and maintain the ice rink, have our input and suggestions to traffic and safety issues with the city, and more. All CECA’s activities are funded via membership sales ($20/family/year), grants, and generous donations of businesses and residents. Evergreen Residents Association is responsible of the ongoing operations and maintenance of the community entrance features and feature park sites. The funds you pay to ERA cover the operations and maintenance costs within their scope.

For more information about both associations, please visit Calgary Evergreen Community Association (CECA) website: https://www.myceca.ca/ and Evergreen Residents Association (ERA) website: https://www.evergreenresidents.ca/.

We are always looking for people like yourself to help in running one or more of our major events. If you have the time and would like to help, you will be part of the team (committee) that runs the event. The events are managed by our event director. Please email our volunteers director [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support.
