Traffic Around Schools and on the Streets
School is out for summer and traffic will be increasing as more people get vaccinated and start going out. Longer daylight hours will mean more kids around the schools and playgrounds.
Please slow down and remind your neighbours to drive slower as there are more kids home these days and they are playing in front of their houses. Do not allow your inattention and speed to be the cause of an accident. Watch out for the kids and tell your kids to watch out for the cars! Slow down!
40 km/h is the New Speed!
As of May 31, the speed on all unposted roadways is now 40 km/h. Find out more, and what the speed limit is on your street, at www.calgary.ca/saferspeed. Some may believe that this is a cash grab, but it is actually proven that the fatality of someone struck by a vehicle travelling 10 km/h slower, is decreased.
SWRR
There is also the ongoing construction of, and the connections to, the southwest section of the ring road. This means lowered speed limits for the work that is being done. Be cautious of this and leave yourself extra time, especially when heading west on Fish Creek Blvd. We will continue to post updates about the SW Ring Road on our Facebook page as we get notices from the contractor. The connector to 162nd Ave. will not be completed till this fall.

Community Safety
It is important that we all get in the habit of following the 9pm routine. Every night before you retire, check your property to make sure everything is locked and secure.

Vacations
If you know and trust your neighbours, let them know when you will be going on vacation and how they can get ahold of you should they notice anything odd or suspicious. This way you can avoid your neighbours calling the police on your cousin that came over at midnight to feed your cat.
