Hello, Glenbrook!
As we move into August and find our days once again getting shorter, it will not be long before students get ready to head back to school in the fall. I hope everyone in Glenbrook has had an opportunity to enjoy summer.
A quick reminder that the outdoor courts at Glenbrook Hall are open and free to use for Glenbrook residents. Due to the use that we have seen throughout the season, we have decided to open the entire facility – on a first come, first use basis – all day on Fridays and Sundays, as there is no scheduled use on these days and everything will be available. We hope to see you there.
We recently completed the solar project at Glenbrook Hall, and we now have some data regarding the performance and costs of this project. June was the first full month of operation, during which the installation produced about 2,500 kWh of power. We look forward to realizing the potential of the project and of the savings to our utility bills.
As we prepare to start meeting again next month, our board of directors is looking for additional volunteers to help us. Currently, our board members are dedicated to ensuring that the work of the community association continues behind the scenes, but we need more Glenbrook residents to assist with new and existing events and programs. These include: helping out at our casinos, teaching kids to skate at our skating parties, facilitating our Canada Day events, working with new Canadians at our ESL program, along with many others. If you have considered volunteering in your community, I encourage you to reach out now. Whatever your schedule, interests, or skills, we can find something that fits. While many of you may not be interested in attending our monthly board meetings, we are developing a list of community volunteers to call upon. If you are interested, send a quick email to [email protected] and one of us will get back to you and find the best fit.
You can always reach me by email at [email protected] or call/text me at 403-616-4644. Please remember to watch your speed when driving through the neighbourhood as we enjoy the warm summer evenings. I hope to connect with you all this fall.
Take care,
Murray Ost, President
