Happy October, everyone!
I truly enjoy this time of year, as we move through fall in Glenbrook. It might be from growing up on a farm in my youth. Fall was a time to reflect and be thankful for everything you were able to accomplish during the past year.
At our recent Annual General Meeting, I was privileged to announce the very first recipients of our Glenbrook Lifetime Member Award. The winners for 2019 are Shirley Barge, Margaret Martini, and Mary Kuipers-Morris, all very deserving for the dedication and vision they give to our community. We also announced the winners of our first Glenbrook Partnership Awards. Two fantastic groups, the Richmond Road Co-op and the Wildcats Football Club, were given the award for their support and contribution to Glenbrook within the operation of their business and sport club, respectively. Our AGM also showcased our budgets for the upcoming year, and the finalizing of the design for our newly renovated Sport Shack. If you would like to provide feedback or input on either of these, please send an email to [email protected], and we will get back to you.
A quick reminder that the summer setup of our outdoor sport space (the hockey rink) will remain open until approximately the third week in October, weather dependent. We will then, over the following few days, take everything down and put it away for the winter. We will usually start making ice for the outdoor rinks in November.
Another reminder that Halloween falls on a weeknight this year (Thursday), so please be careful while you are out that evening. And, as always, please remember to watch your speed while driving through our neighbourhoods, as we enjoy the fall evenings. We can all do our part to keep Calgary safe for everyone.
You can always reach me by email at [email protected], or call/text me at 403-616-4644. I hope to see you this fall.
Take care,
