AGM to Be Held via Zoom on September 9
I hope you have all found wonderful ways to enjoy this summer that has zoomed by far too quickly. Our COVID-19 world seems to run in fits and starts these days with much uncertainty still in the air as kids go back to school and we seek ways to restore the normalcy in our lives. With that as a background, the Glendale Community board met in August and decided to alter plans for our September 9 Annual General Meeting.
Instead of a social-distanced, limited attendance event at the Community Hall, the AGM will be held online via Zoom. The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 9. Community members who wish to attend the event must register in advance (by September 7) through your membership account at www.myglendale.ca.
The AGM will feature a full financial report from the previous year presented by Treasurer Terry Craigmile. We will review highlights from the previous year in Glendale and take questions on any issues you may have about community affairs. Questions must be submitted in writing in advance by emailing [email protected].
The AGM is also the yearly event where new board members are welcomed on. There are many volunteer opportunities for members at large, from which the following positions are selected: (Incumbent noted at each position)
Membership Co-ordinator: (Monika Smith)
Social Convenor: (Allison Swelin)
Civic Affairs Liaison: (Vacant)
Hall Rental Coordinator: (Amanda Saigeon)
Elections will be held for all members at large and individual votes will be held for the following executive positions:
Vice-President 1: (Amanda Saigeon)
Vice-President 2: (Jennelle Inlow)
Treasurer: (Terry Craigmile)
Secretary: (Veronika Duska)
The position of President is elected every two years, so current president Chris Welner has another year in this term.
If you would like to serve in any of the above positions or nominate a community member to serve, email [email protected] prior to Monday, September 7 to make sure the candidate’s name is on our ballots. Each candidate for contested positions will be given the opportunity to speak about how they see themselves serving the Glendale/Glendale Meadows Community.
We hope you all stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to welcoming you all back when community events restart in the not too distant future.
