Dear Neighbours,
It’s a funny thing when you write a letter three weeks in advance. In April I said, “Is it possible that it’s really Spring?” Well, not tempting that line again for May!
It has been an absolute pleasure to see the way people have come together to create community as we commit to keeping each other healthy. I have seen people out walking, and kids on bike rides. And yet, a great sadness still exists. Our playgrounds, often bumping spaces, are quiet. People give each other space but I’m not certain organic conversations are happening with ease and comfort as we pass.
I acutely understand the loneliness and isolation many of you are feeling. I am also overwhelmed by the amount of things to be on top of from parenting to teaching to working. Life is 50/50 with my girls and this balance has never felt so unharmonious. I remarked that there is no road map for the journey we are on and picking up the pieces after is going to be a scavenger hunt. I have looked at my closet and wondered why I have so many clothes. I have been so grateful for my dog and our daily walks that help with our health. I have eaten too much, and then too little. I have talked my face off one day and had days when I didn’t want to hear from anyone and just needed space to collect my thoughts.
I hope in your homes you’re learning about yourself and how strong you are. It takes courage to stay the course. It takes humility to put others before yourself. It takes love and kindness to make sure we are healthy and supported as a community. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Kourtney
