What a wonderful summer that was!
A big thanks to all of our residents who came out for our summer events, and an extra big thanks to our organizers, leaders, and builders. Our community is full of generous and caring people, and I see daily the pride and love we have for our neighbourhood.
It was a busy summer with construction for the SWBRT and the pedestrian overpass. I know many are concerned about the dog park rehabilitation and tree replacement along the 14 Street dog park. This hasn’t fallen off the radar, and Sonja continues to work with the City on remediation conversations and efforts. I’ve had residents ask about parking after the BRT stations open. There are no plans from the city to implement parking zones in the community. Parking zones are generally resident-led initiatives when problems start to arise. I am happy to have these conversations with you and help facilitate and connect you to the process and the people who can support the change.
In other planning news, Haysboro is one of a few handfuls of communities selected to participate in a multi-community Area Redevelopment Plan. This is a City led process that opens conversations about our visions of community planning, which then become policy. The plan is currently (as I type) referred to as Area 31, but will likely get a new name before the process officially starts. There will be plenty of opportunities for public engagement, and we encourage everyone to take part in discussing our vibrant and thriving future.
Correction from last month: We meet the second Monday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. As always, if you have any questions please reach out by email or phone.
